“I will lift up my eyes to the hills—
From whence comes my help?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.”
— Psalm 121:1–2 (NKJV)
When life feels heavy and uncertain, it’s easy to lower your gaze and lose hope in hard times — to stare down at your circumstances, your fears, your failures. But Psalm 121 urges us to do the opposite. It says: Lift your eyes.
Not to the chaos, but to the Creator.
Not to the problem, but to the Promise-Keeper.
Hope in Hard Times begins with lifting your eyes
In hard times, it can feel like help is nowhere to be found. But David reminds us — help was never meant to come from the hills. It comes from the Lord who made the hills. The One who shaped heaven and earth is the same One who sees you, loves you, and walks beside you through every trial.
Maybe you’re walking through a season that feels dry, dark, or disorienting.
Maybe your strength is worn thin and your heart aches for peace.
If you’re searching for hope in hard times, don’t look to the chaos around you — lift your eyes to the One who made the hills.
Lift your eyes, my friend.
Not in defeat — but in expectation.
Because your help is not gone.
It’s on the way.
It’s already here.
God doesn’t abandon His children in their struggle.
He steps into the fire with them.
He steadies them when they stumble.
He lifts their heads when they’ve forgotten how to hope.
So today, when your heart starts to sink,
pause…
breathe…
and whisper Psalm 121 aloud.
Let it remind you where your help truly comes from.
And lift your eyes again.
For more hope and encouragement.
🙏 A Prayer for Today
Lord, when the weight of the world feels like too much to carry,
remind me that I was never meant to carry it alone.
Help me lift my eyes to You — not just once, but again and again.
You are my help.
You are my strength.
And in You, I place my trust.
Amen.
